Planning legislation has recently been updated under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act. This Act requires that Local Planning Authorities prepare a Local Development Framework (LDF). This will set out the Council's policies for meeting the community's economic, environmental and social aims for the future, where this affects the development and use of land.
The Local Development Framework will be a portfolio of local planning documents which will guide and control development in the District.
Core Strategy
The Core Strategy sets out the Council’s overall approach towards future development, where it should take place and the key factors that need to be taken into account when considering proposed developments. Site Specific Allocations
This document will identify suitable land for future development within Waveney for specific purposes such as housing, employment, shopping and community facilities and will be accompanied by a Proposals Map showing the geographical areas to which policies and proposals relate. Lake Lothing Area Action Plan
The Area Action Plan will provide focus on the regeneration and improvement of the Lake Lothing Area in Central Lowestoft. Development Management Policies
The Development Management Policies will provide guidance for development proposals within the District and will be key considerations in the determination of planning applications. Supplementary Planning Documents
These documents will provide more detailed guidance for specific sites or types of development referred to elsewhere within the Local Development Framework. Annual Monitoring Report
The Annual monitoring report summarises the use of local planning policies during the previous year, as well as looking at national and local data and trends associated with planning and giving an update on the Council's progress on producing its Local Development Framework. Statement of Community Involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement sets out the ways in which the Council will involve the community in the preparation, alteration and continuing review of all Local Development Framework documents and during the consideration of major planning applications. Local Development Scheme
The Local Development Scheme provides an overview of the content of the Local Development Framework, as well as a timetable identifying the different stages in its preparation.
